Teens and slang

Slang Showing a feeling of group solidarity, we may not be accepted or considered strange if we speak formal language like a speech. Conversely, when we make speeches, slang is not appropriate to use.

Slang was developed among certain groups like soldiers, teenagers and vilains then passed on through popular media like newspapers, magazines, music, games, television, social media and internet.

Slang and linguistic variation

Some slang words illustrate very general principles of linguistic variation and change. Like pronuncing word by removing some phonemes (igg from ignore, 'bout from about, za from pizza, rents from parents, etc.)

Its form can be combine some words into a single word like: whasup from what is up, howzit goin' from how is it going, etc.

It also can be produce a new word to say something like: hang out = wasting time with friend, for real = really, savage = cool, etc
